I think this quote and action that takes place is very much like many movie scenes where a person is feed lies about a loved one in order for information or money, but the person stays true to the other, despite being threatened. This quote relates to bravery because the son had to be brave in order to stand up to a man holding a knife that has been killing people, not many adults would do that let alone a child. The quote means that the son doesn't believe that his father is a traitor. The Son bravery kicked the murder and shortly after was killed, but he never lost faith in his father.
